Question linux text editor substitute for Crimson

Hi,

I've dabbled in liunx distros in the past but always drifted back to windows. I installed ubuntu the other day and I'm hooked....I think this is the distro that will lead to my full migration to the linux community.

One very small problem is that I love Crimson editor, which of course is a windows aplication. One of the things I really like about it is that it has a little warning light on the document you are working on which goes green when the edited document is saved. I know that seems like a small point but it helps my brain to work correctly....the amount of times I've spent trying to refresh a html page from a text file I haven't saved. Also I'd just started to learn about macros and how they can speed everything up.

I'm currently using gedit which is fine, but are there any editors out there that anyone has had experience of that is similar to crimson?

Cheers, Rick.

Re: linux text editor substitute for Crimson

gedit is definitely the best for Ubuntu. I was hooked also, until the lack of a linux version of photoshop eventually brought me back to the evil microsoft.

I can't really recommend anything else. Sorry not to be of much help.

Oh, and moved to the software forum
