Cheapest Dedicated Servers?

im currently looking at migrating to a Dedicated Server from Shared hosting with Dreamhost, nothing wrong with dreamhost, i would just like the extra freedom etc that comes with a Dedicated Server.

The cheapest i have found so far is $29.99 per month which includes:

Pentium-4 1.5 GHZ CPU
512 MB RAM
40 GB HDD
2 TB/mo Bandwidth on 100mbit Port
5 IPs

idealy i could do with a lot more hdd space, and more ram would be a bonus, aswell as cpanel, this plan above does include it at a $25 charge i believe.

So does anyone know of any hosts that can offer better?

We wouldnt even dream of selling a VPS for that price, let alone a dedicated server.
I'll assume your not bothered about downtime, reliability, backup or support?

Have a look at GlobalTap.com dedis. Prices are not very high.
They also offer redundant a active/passive and active/active server configurations as a standard option.

Do you mean "cheaper" by better?

Seems like the deal you have mentioned is unmanaged, is there any setup fee I wonder?
If your budget is low, it's better to go for a VPS deal with more resources and support.
I know that my host ahosting.biz provides fully managed Intel Pentium Dual Core deals with 1 GB of RAM at about $130.00

Do the maths yourself.

Assume depreciation on hardware at $ 12 per month
Rackspace at $ 2 per month
Bandwidth at $ 4 per month
5 IPs at $ 2 per month
Electricity (say 100 watt * 24 * 30 * $0.14 *0.001) = $10.08

That gives you a total of $ 30.08

Where does the service and their profit come from?

I think you will need to increase the budget for better server configurations and better network connectivity.

I think that you need to understand that options under $80-90 per month not dedicated servers. Or very poor. I think that it must be clear for you.
Maybe VPS can be an option as well.

I want to name a few more cheap dedicated server providers: lypha.com and ahosting.biz.

ServerPoint.com provides dedis for small business starting at $79.99 per month. They offer too use their dedis the second month free. Think their resource intensive dedis will suit you well.

Companies that offer impossibly low price dedicated are generally very shady.

A few weeks ago someone posted on a blog about a company he got dedicated hosting with, and a reverse ip search showed up another 80 sites hosted there?

Why do you want dedicated hosting anyway?

Good dedicated plans are offered by hqhost.net. This is rather reliable provider so it is worth looking up their site.
