no the whole thing is nested in a ul, but the sub menus are nested in their own ul's. the conditional comments are what was in the code already its a stu nicholls code from css play so i figured it was quite reliable, its only for if internet eplorer 6 or above is being used, but doesnt seem to work for anything under ie6
