Re: How to improve my local website
The pig theme is quite quirky but needs tidying up. Make the main navigation more obvious that its navigation it looks like an image/graphic at the moment - you wouldn't think nav straight away.
If you want to keep the design like this ad role over colours in the main navigation. If this is a bit much at the moment just make them big text links instead of the image with links on top. A quick fix for the site would be to change all the default blue colour links to something more fitting, in this case may be pink woulod be ok! |

Thanks, the pink idea for the links is great, I will try that out, I'll need to use a fairly dark pink. I'll also attempt a colour rollover, perhaps to the background of the nav links.

Re: How to improve my local website
i like the idea as i have a similer site (livelongbenton.info) and i like the map in the background. i agree i think you should sort out the nav as it is confusing... i thought it was the page title...
it does what its supposed to... and that the main thing... just need to tidy it up and make it more appealing to the eye |

Re: How to improve my local website
Just to add to the 'tidy up' suggestion - pad everything out!
The front page content is far too condensed. Give each 'section' plenty more room to breathe and perhaps make the titles bold. On the photos page, center align the pictures and add a bit of space in between, perhaps some padding and a border too. And regarding the navigation, personally I'm not keen on the varying size text. From a usability point of view, it throws you off a bit at first.

Re: How to improve my local website
I'm a bit confused as what the home page contents represents? arre these the latest additions, or are they a random picking from the database.
You also need some introductory text to let everyone know what the purpose of your site is.
