"Self-updating" Calendar - How?

Hi all,

As I still consider myself a newbie in the world of web design, I'm not sure where to post this question as I'm not sure what programming language would allow me to do the following.

I am looking for a way to create a calendar on my website that remains current when users visit my site. I created a nice little calendar with CSS to fit in my sidebar like on many blogs, but it's a pain to update it everyday as you can see at www.scotaliawebdesign.com.

Can anyone point me to the technology I would need to create a like calendar that changes with the day and month and remains current as visitors access my site regardless of of how many days in the month there are? Is this possible? Is it a difficult undertaking for someone who considers themself a rank beginner but would like to learn how to earn a living doing what I find enjoyable and fun as opposed to reversing bounced check fees for cranky useless bank customers all day -just kidding for all you potential bank customers who help pay my salary with your bounced check fees.

Thanks for the advice,

Craig
