Hello people

I'm Ross, I'm currently in my 2nd year at University of Sunderland studying Media Production (Video and New Media). A few months ago I came to the conclusion that i wanted to go down the new media side of my course and more specifically web design. Video work really gets me too stressed, but I also enjoy alot of the media theory, especially when it has something to do with politics, music or film, not so much TV or radio.

I have knowledge of Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and to a lesser extent Photoshop. I also know the basics of HTML, CSS and Actionscript.

First of all I am hoping to build on my existing knoweldge in these areas and then want to learn more programming languages. I'm thinking Java will be the best place to start.

I considered going onto do a masters degree to get more knowledge of the technical side of web design and development but dont think i will be able to afford it. So now I'm thinking that I'm going to have to teach myself, hence me coming here for help when i need it.

I was also thinking of doing some short courses to help teach me, which seem pretty expensive to say they last less than a week.

Anyway, this seems like a very helpful resource and I've written too much so I'll shut up now.
