Hi there,
Please take a look at an investment site I am designing. Currently I am finalizing the layout so you will just be lookng at a jpeg of the design. The jpg is almost 750k so it may take a second to load for you.

Any comments good or bad are greatly appreciated, as well as any suggestions. Obviously you can disregard the text until I begin the testing/programming phase.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Wow,

Thats all I can say, that is a really good website, I can't really find a bad thing to say about it to be honest.
Keep that and get coding, if you code this website well, you will have a great website on your hands

^ Agree

The only thing I would change, is the background. Admittedly it fits well, but I think a gradient or simple repeating pattern would work better. IMO graphic intensive backgrounds just add load time and distraction from the site itself.

Only marginally, he's got a repeating textual effect, as apposed to a gradient.

A gradient would be what, about 1px by 150px atleast, granted his is something by 800px height.

But it shouldn't make too much of a difference and a gradient might look more out of place.

It may require an extra 80kb, in this day and age thats nothing as most people are on faster than 56kb.

However this extra file size does need to be taken into consideration for bandwith consuption, while 40kb may not be alot, after 10,000* hits thats now 40mb.

*Most browsers, after one page will cache the background rather than reloading it, however if it can't cache, or the cache is removed (periodically most often) then it will reload.

Just make sure you grant enough bandwith to cater for graphic intense sites.

Re: Please take a look at our investment site

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your critique a couple of months back regarding the initial design I had for a real estate investment site. I have taken your comments and help and made a few revisions. I have also had the site coded for CSS. As before, please disregard the text and links as I am waiting to finish the design before I insert final copy.

If you have a moment, please take another look at the new design and let me know what you think. As always, any comments and suggestions (good or bad) are greatly appreciated!

Love it. Absoloutley love it.

The colours and images complement each other amazingly well.

I have never liked designs that use the wood as a background but.. WOW.. you have completely changed my opinion on this; the coulour is right (not too light) and it looks (realistic as it can be through a computer screen).

The code looks great too - using CSS for layout, etc plus it validates strict.

Well done.

Design: 9/10
Code: 10/10

Overall: The site is beautifully constructed - a lot of thought has been put into it. This thought is shown in the design and code aswell as placement of text. Excellent!

Re: Please take a look at our investment site

On the sub page... there are a few empty <span> tags... can i ask why?

Other than that i think it's top notch, when viewing without any page style i'm debating wether it should show 'the experts' before the content (like it does) or after... i can't decide so it's probably fine lol.

The way you format your css is good, i've been trying to do that more and more lately.
