Re: Optimizing my Site

geo.position? nope. SEs calculate the geographical location of you website's IP address.

Ive rewrote some copy on my home page and I was just wondering what was a good keyword density for body text?

Re: Optimizing my Site

Because Google will think its 2 pages, and then you have duplicate content.

Re: Optimizing my Site

1. The title of your homepage is too heavy. Too many phrases. Make your mind up. Pick one. Put emphasis on it. "Website Design Weston-Super-Mare" sounds good. Make separate pages to target "graphic design" and "search engine optimisation".

2. You have a bigger problem in your hands. Weston-super-mare can (and most likely will) be seen as 3 words. This automatically diminishes the emphasis on "website design" from 66% to 40%.

3. Weston-Super-Mare is quite a long word, If I lived there I'd probably just type "Avon", or the postcode (whatever it is). Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

4. http://www.ben-smith.net/somerset/about-somerset.html would be better as...
http://www.ben-smith.net/somerset/we...-somerset.html
...including information about the services you offer for Somerset, not historical blurb...

Re: Optimizing my Site

Thanks Si, info much appreciated, just changed to "/"

Also thanks Spinal, Ive kept my keywords to a minimum on my home page, I was flapping abit!

Ive also changed Weston-Super-Mare to westonsupermare to one word to see if this helps. Also my county is Somerset but I think my competition is to strong to compete for website design somerset.

I do have separate pages for graphic design, website design, seo etc and these do get picked up in google as other pages other than my homepage.

Also Ive removed many unused metatags.

When I get some time I will make pages for all my services.

Lets see how it goes! Fingers crossed, is theyre anything else you can suggest? Many thanks for your time.

ATB B

You will definitelly need directory and article submissions to compete in this field.
You're up against the best in the business...

Re: Optimizing my Site

As many as you can, start from the most popular and specific. ie.: Search on Google for "web design directory", work through the top 100 results and get yourself on as many of those directories as possible.

Either that or, write an interesting article and submit it to a few of the top article directories. Then you will get much more valuable links.

Re: Optimizing my Site

Here is why article submission works. My article entitled "SEO and Links Explained" has a link back to my site with the phrase "SEO Expert London" in the signature. The article has been published and re-published on over 200 pages around the web. The result: #1 for seo expert london and surprisingly, a respectable #6 in somerset. LOL
