Cool WebSite Help

I was hired to create a website for a Printing Company, but the owner wants the website to have a place where people can register and sign in with Username and Passwords....

I have created most of the Main Page....

How do i go about to create this username and password thing?

The website is here

It is just temporary posted at that site, so, can anyone help me to get this going?

Re: WebSite Help

Moved to MySQL Forum

I'm slightly baffled as to why you accepted a job you can't complete?

How much knowledge of databases and programming languages do you have? You will definitely need a mix of the two.

What features or purpose does the client want with a login facility? What kind of access are users granted?

For now I'm moving this to MySQL forum (mod's please move again if necessary)

Agreed, if you are going to make anything happen you need to know its purpose.

There is a huge amount of ready made and customisable scripts out there (most utilising PHP and MySQL with 'one click' installation) but what does the client want his users to log into? Perhaps he wants a client billing system and an online order system?

You are not likely to need programming experience, but some advice on what the client wants to achieve would be useful in pointing you in the right direction.

Smile Re: WebSite Help

I do not know about Programming, but i know about Databases..... The person wants the login facility so people can post stuff for him to work on. Users are granted basic access to some of his work, and they may be able to speak to him when they are in the site.

I am using ASP...any comments about what i should be using?

I wouldn't mind one of those one click installation things.....

The owner of the site is confused.....

Re: WebSite Help

It depends on your hosting server! If they are window server, then you should ask if they support ASP. Sometimes the latest hosting company only support ASP.NET but not ASP.
If it is PHP, then you should do the same step as well

Ok, If you want an ASP tutorial on basic login system, check out my very own ASP-MySQL Login Tutorial in this forum under the ASP Forum sticky

Re: WebSite Help

If it was me, I would point out to your person that this was not mentioned when you took the job.
