making midi files

Greetings,

Ok, so this is more complicated than I thought. Are there any peeps out there who make their own midi files? I`ve got an eight year old digital piano, and all I need to do is make simple piano midi files, no other instruments or written music. Don`t think I`ll need to do much in the way of editing either.

Apparently the internal sequencer in the piano is not great, and I may or may not need an external sequencer- am not sure. I use Windows xp. So can someone advise me as to the best procedure for my circumstances? What software do most peeps use, and is there a free or inexpensive one that can be recommended? Something easy to use, preferably...

Any help much appreciated!

Re: making midi files

You need something to record the sounds?

If you want to edit i personally use sound forge from sony its very extensive.
If you want to just convert .wav or whatever then you can prob find a free converter at www.downloads.com

Re: making midi files

There is also a program called "GoldWave" which is a great sound recording program, my friend uses it when he records his DJ sets.
It is however a tad complicated to get into, but once you do its worth it.
