Whats the Difference/Worth Learning?
Dum questions ahead!
1. What's the difference between ASP & ASP.Net? 2. Is it worth learning? Or would you stick to PHP and become really good with that? Cheers! Jack

Re: Whats the Difference/Worth Learning?
As you know me (the one and only former ASP Advisor), I consider myself good and advance user in ASP language. I am proud to say that I am currently leaving my ASP world and rapidly learning PHP! "ASP is a dying language" as expert says
I don't have any idea about .NET, but some people say that they are a good powerful language like PHP! Since it is the new version of the classic ASP 3.0 language. My advice, if you have plenty of time, there is no harm if you want to learn .NET. For me, I will stick with PHP for now Cheers...

Re: Whats the Difference/Worth Learning?
As Monie will know I'm an advanced ASP programmer too but i would dissagree that it is dying just yet as there are so many hosts that offer hosting and also a lot of legacy applications out there, but on the other hand would recommend either Ruby on Rails or PHP 5 to developers wanting to learn a new language as these are true OOP platforms which will allow you to rapidly develop applications and make use of the built in framework functionality.

Re: Whats the Difference/Worth Learning?
Why I said ASP is a dying language is because people are moving from ASP to .NET environment since .NET are believed to much more flexible and powerful
As I've joined many web design forum out there, as usual the ASP forum is quiet. People hangout in PHP or .NET more often then the ASP forum. So, pardon me if my statement about ASP hurt any of you programmers out there I love ASP myself, and still learning them together with PHP.

Re: Whats the Difference/Worth Learning?
from what i've experienced: asp is the SUX.
But seriously, .net framework is awesome for x-web/ x-network applications. Think of an involved and convoluted project and .net will do it. Just don't use it for the hell of it.

Re: Whats the Difference/Worth Learning?
LOL, I have tried .NET but can't get on with it, maybe I ain't got enough time to learn I guess as I work by day and freelance by night and hardly ever finish off before 00:00 GMT. If I had a choice of languages between .NET, PHP and Ruby I would go with the latter every time.
