Best free Forum

I'm looking to start a forum and, myself and someone else have come up with a great idea, we feel confident that it will work. For now, is phpBB the best free software? I've read it comes with Blog Mods, and loads more and it sounds great.

If the forum kicks off, is it worth going for VB? Could i transfer from phpBB -> VB if needed?

What are people's opinions?

Re: Best free Forum

You can convert to vb, easy as pie

It would be worth it if you get 100 posting members.

Re: Best free Forum

How difficult would it be to convert, does it just involve installing new directories or is there more involved?

Re: Best free Forum

I would like to recommend phpBB.

It is very easy to modify its look and "inoperate" into your current design/site layout. It has a very nice and easy to use control panel, where you can control each user, set forum permissions, ban, delete, upload, change colors etc etc etc. Also, many people are used to it, so it might be easy for the new user to post.

If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : free forum hosting

Hope this can help!

Re: Best free Forum

Jack, I would also second Hoold's point about PHPBB, that is the best free forum software I have come across, but I think this thread is abit old for you am I right? As I see your GCSE forum has already been created!

And you have used the good old free forum software within PHPBB, good choice I must add
