Helvetica / Arial is used by most professional companies as a content font - which has nothing to do with Logos!
I kind of guessed that it wasn't exactly Comic Sans.
Apple (Inc) use Myriad Pro Semi-Bold for their Logo. Apple use Apple Casual for interfaces and some headings on their website. It is not a variation of Comic Sans, albeit the fact that they are competing fonts. Arial is not a variation of Helvetica even though it is hard to tell them apart. Each of these fonts were made from scratch and were not built upon each other!
Casual is really frowned upon - especially for use in a logo!
These fonts were made by different designers at different time periods.
About Helvetica Neue. This is a variation of Helvetica.

When I was talking about Helvetica, I was talking about this font only, and not it's family. It has several differences that separate it from the normal weight / style.
