Hello all, this is me and my teams website for our web and graphic design business "Infuse Digital". In total I worked around 3 weeks on this project, I hope that you guys like it. At the moment I am currently working on optimizing the site for shorter load times.

Thanks

Re: Infuse Digital

It look pretty, but to decrease load times on your server you should try coding it in css.. way faster and easier to modify..
Also you could try to use text rather than images for your menu (the top one especially).

Images are done in Illustrator?

Re: Infuse Digital

I like the design, but the font is way too small to read. Due to the text all being the same colour, it all just blurs into one big ball of mushy nothingness and I don't know where to focus.
Maybe a few different hues will help me focus on the areas you want to bring to my attention first.

Re: Infuse Digital

Don't center it.. This one looks good on the side I think. The site looks ok, but it takes forever to load. Optimize the images for the web, you can do that and still keep them looking just as good if you know what your doing in photoshop. Next, lose the tables. Tables died about 3 years ago and for very good reason. They are slow, take forever to edit content if it doesn't fit 100% exactly the way the table was designed and just make your layout look like a box.

Also, get rid of all that javascript. Learn to use CSS for image roll-overs and use actual text for the links. You don't want to use images for links because it does mess with your search engine optimization. The graphics here look good so I'm glad you are pursuing that, but the black and green is a little hard on the eyes. Try making the areas where the text is a little lighter shade of black as it will help with people using your site. The worst thing you can do is have text on a pure black background as this is very bad for people's eyes.

Also I'm not a huge fan of the lack of color. This would be great if you had more presence showing off your work, but with the current layout, you don't do that. This makes the site look bland and like its missing something.

One last thing is you have Recent Projects on your webdesign page and there isn't anything there. If you haven't done anything before then get rid of that portion of the page. If a potential client sees you haven't finished your site's text then why would they expect you to finish theirs?

The site's not terrible by any means, but I hope you make some changes to it. If you need help feel free to ask how to do things and we will be glad to show you how or send you to an article. There are TONS of great articles and tutorials offered by webforumz and I suggest you check some of them out.

Don't feel bad, this is a Critique section and I want to help you get better.

Re: Infuse Digital

Thank you everyone for your crit's, I am in the stages of optimizing the images for shorter load times, but as majority of you are saying to implement more of css, I will definitely look upon that as my next task.

Cheers guys

Re: Infuse Digital

It looks very nice but listen to what the others have said, there's some good advice there. In particular the issue of your small text size is one that needs to be addressed ASAP as well as your slowish load times.

Best of luck.

Re: Infuse Digital

Just a suggestion... Move the Why Us portion down on the site and stretch the flash movie all the way across. Will give the site much more color.

Re: Infuse Digital

Nice header graphic.

Don't make a pop-up window for "about us". If I want a new window, I'll open it myself, thanks.

The text is too small and cramped. Add some leading: the CSS p { line-height: 1.5em; } will do the trick. The colours, although they might appeal to you, are probably not going to appeal to most of your potential clients. They are too dark and grungy. Most people are likely to prefer dark text on a light background; give them what they want.

Well done for writing valid code, but as a web designer you should be able to manage HTML Strict. You should also look into the use of CSS for layouts; tables are an old hack: they are the 90's way of doing things.

Improve your copy. Your writing style is loose. For example:

Quote:
Welcome to Infuse Digital, we are a multimedia development team based in London, our aim is to provide nothing but absolute professional work for costs much lower than our competition.
Those commas are incorrect. You need either semicolons or full stops. And it's "absolutely professional". Similarly:

Quote:
Long gone the days of advertising your services/products on small columns on newspapers or miniscule articles on local magazines with the power of the internet their is absolutely no need for all of that hassle, we have a saying at Infuse “one does not know the power of websites until they have one them selves to show off”.
"Long gone are the days"; "in newspapers or minuscule articles in local magazines". After that you need a full stop; you can't just run into "with the power..." heedless of punctuation.

"There is absolutely no need" (and cut the emphatics: you really like that word "absolute/absolutely", don't you? ). After that, you need another full stop, before "We have a saying". And your (rhetorically bankrupt) "saying" needs to be recast: "one does not know the power of websites until one has a website to show off".

To be honest, you need to learn how to write. Your copy is gushing, self-praising, rambling, and grammatically incorrect. Simplify it, write informatively rather than vaingloriously, and correct your grammatical errors.

Re: Infuse Digital

Cheers for your crit, but dont worry about the grammarical/spelling errors, I am wary of all of them. I shall be giving the whole site a nice check this week. I have this habbit of writing as if I am speaking to someone, so everything I write usually requires a nice thorough checking.
