Logo design - how much to pay?
Hi
I have been slowly building my site for about a year and a half now, and have go to the point where I think that a professionally designed logo will really help the site. But I have no idea what the going rate on getting a logo designed is. I live in UK, London, so, how much should I expect to pay? Just a "ball park figure" will do. If anyone has any suggestions for a logo for my site, that would be greatly appreciated. Site is Motley Health (there should be a link in my profile). Cheers Jon. |

Re: Logo design - how much to pay?
I usually pay around $100 - 150 for logo's but those are vector images that I can use for print as well as web, AND i can resize to whatever I need it for.

Re: Logo design - how much to pay?
Not to put down the whole local thing, but I get that all the time from web clients. They always want someone local, then after they shell out a few hundred they come back to me and want me to do it because their local people weren't any good. If your living in the capital of the graphic artist world then sure go find someone local, but other than that you'd better be looking around the field as you really want the best bang for your buck. You can still have a voice conversation with people all the way around the globe for free using IM Voice Chat and most designers and developers are willing to do that.
But before you shell out money to someone you can't see, make sure they are a legit company first. That's the only problem with doing business non-locally. Webforumz is also a great place to get help in our jobs section.

Re: Logo design - how much to pay?
Well, we have a local base of graphic artists that can flat-out create a great logo. But they aren't going to do it for less than $500 U.S. dollars. Look for a freelancer, a graphic artist in your area. You do want it to translate to print. If you want the whole graphics manual (I suspect you don't) expect to pay more.
But do know that it will cost you more to buy a logo that can go on printed pieces like a brochure or ad. You might want to run an ad in a specific program and have a logo. For example, let's say you sell ballet shoes. You'd want to run an ad in the event program since that would be a very specific target audience opportunity. |

Hey guys let's quit asking for work now.
If jonbey wants someone to do a logo he should create a thread in the job opps section.

Re: Logo design - how much to pay?
Thanks for all the offers, but I am currently happy with the one I knocked up. The advice about getting a logo that can be used on paper etc. was taken on board, so for my next logo I hope to get a friends father to do it, who is a retired artist. Should be ideal. Just need to find a way to bargain with him. Will offer to build him a small website I guess!

Re: Logo design - how much to pay?
I think that's a splendid offer for your friend's Dad. He could use it to showcase his art. Just because he's retired doesn't mean he's dead and not wanting to sell or show off his talents. Give that a go. And you'll have that person you can sit down with and you have an idea what you want it to look like.
If you need it for print, you'll need "camera ready" art. You can scan it into photoshop and save it as a scalable eps file. |
