CSS for dummies.

Wouldl this CSS book be good to learn from? It was published in March of 2005. http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/Dumm...-BUILDING.html

not really, the 'for dummies' range deal only with the very basic of basic - not enough to build a decent website i used this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sams-Teach-Y...0106716&sr=8-1 great book, taught me loads

that's a good thing in the world of computers lol dreamweaver is also a good ( codeview ) helper when starting with css

Better than wasting your money to buy books! If you have bookmark, you could refer to it whenever you want. With books, it's just irritating.

Actually I prefer books too. I find it the best way to learn things next to hands on in a classroom setting.

Very true, I could print them, but by the time I have everything printed I'd have $20.00 work of paper, lol.. my as well well just by a professionals book, lol..

Have a look for a book by Rachael Andrew, I think it's called the CSS Anthology. That was what got me started with CSS.

I never saw the point of a book for CSS, there is so much available on the internet for free that I didn't bother.
Some people say they like it for reference, but I have all the CSS properties appear in a list in dreamweaver so no point for me
C# however, there was little information on learning from the start. I found most sites only offered solutions that a programmer encountered not just teaching. So i bought a book which Jan recommended and it was brilliant!

Books are right for some, but not for others. I agree with Jack on CSS Anthology, it's a very good book for beginners.

The whole book is a tale of progress, each section laying out a task, then achieving the task, explaining why you are doing what along the way. Plus it doesn't bore you with the details, but stresses what you need to know and the concept behind CSS.

Plus it's a bargain at the Book Depository, who I have used and very happy with.

I have learn CSS (from scratch) from website tutorial like w3school, webforumz..
and I can now consider myself as an intermediate css programmer

I don't need books for CSS!
Save me a lot of money tho...

The problem with buying a book for something like web design is you buy it, it will be out of date tomorrow. Stick to using the intenet, this web site is an extremely helpful way of learning.

As others have indicated, you can learn a great deal online. Once you have the basic ideas down, when you want to add a certain feature you've found on another site, study the site's stylesheet and markup and experiment to make the technique your own. There are numerous tutorial and reference sites to help when you get stuck. Also, validate your code as you try new things as it will often quickly point you in the direction of where the problem lies.
