Angry IE Problems

Hey guys,

Reasonably new at this, and I'm tearing my hair out, and ready to punch my pc... I'm having a number of major problems with ie. First of all, I'm designing this page for my local church : http://www.faciodesign.co.uk/legacyweb which displays perfectly in Firefox on PC and Mac, but all I get in ie6 & 7 is a blank white page. Can anybody help?

Secondly, my home page http://www.faciodesign.co.uk displays perfectly in firefox, but in ie6, divs run concurently, not inline, (and the background doesn't display(height:auto problem?)), and in ie7, the rightContainer div runs out of the main container.

ie6 problem: http://www.faciodesign.co.uk/ie6dump.jpg
ie7 problem: http://www.faciodesign.co.uk/ie7dump.jpg

Many Thanks,
Andrew

Re: IE Problems

Hi Monie,

Many thanks for that. Didn't know it was available. I've cleaned the legacyweb page up as much as possible, and also my home page.

Re: IE6 div placement

Good news is that I can now see the legacyweb page. My problem is now with ie6 and my home page (www.faciodesign.co.uk) It looks like this http://www.faciodesign.co.uk/ie6dump.jpg, and I can't find what I should change (inline, block etc for what div)

Many Thanks for your help,
Andrew

Re: IE Problems

To me, it looks like the right column is just a few pixels too wide. Try reducing it by 5px.

Re: IE Problems

that column is too wide or you have to spread the main column.

Re: IE Problems

Thanks for your help.

ie7 is now looking ok, but ie 6 still has no background and the right column is sticking out a little. I can't seem to amend one without it adversely affecting the other...

Re: IE Problems

I had a similar problem and a member replied with this:

IE6 is not rendering the columns correctly, this is most likely due to the IE 6 float margin bug. Fix it by applying

Code: display: inline;

to the floated divs. If this still does not solve the problem, try tweaking the widths.
