Safari users - help, why image not rendered?

Hi all. Here's a wierd one. Check ( http://www.saltmarshe.com/Outlets.html ) this URL in Safari on a Mac or PC and you will see (or rather you won't) a header image not there (still with me?), but it does preview from my Mac or PC ok dir ectfrom my machine rather than the server and the URL direct to the image on the server also works. A CSS issue? Even poxy Explorer sees it ok! PS - this is not my design, I'm just tweaking it for someone.

Validate your code before you start blaming the browser. You have a violent error: your <body> tag is incomplete, missing the final ">":

Code: Select all

<body style="background: #ffffff; margin: 0pt; " onload="onPageLoad();"

That could cause all sorts of mayhem.

Hey thanks MikeHopley! Forgot my basics to check code. I had tweaked somebody elses and missed this error. I'll get to it tomorrow at my place of work. Many thanks. I had looked at the source with Firefox's "view source chart" extension and it mysteriously lists it as a complete tag, whereas "view source" shows it as incomplete. All good.

That's not terribly mysterious. Firefox's view source chart will show what the browser interprets the source hierarchy to be: when the nesting is broken, it will take a guess.

Well now I know. I'm at that point where I've studied various aspects of web design for on/off 3yrs, but pulling all these parts together (and remembering them) is the tricky bit to now develop with practice. Must remember validation - it is free after all!

If you haven't already done so, check out HTML Validator for Firefox. This gives constant feedback.
