What flash bits could/should I add to my site?
I want to try to make my site, well, flashy, since its a portfolio/artistic type of site. But I want to at the same time keep the primary, must see content in html, leaving the flash stuff for the decorations. The only flash I have on my site is the banner and the icons for the pages.
Simply put, What do you recommend I add to keep it user friendly yet flashy? (if thats even possible) My Site |

Re: What flash bits could/should I add to my site?
A note to keep in mind, if your not Amazing with flash, stay away from it. Flash is misused so much that page after page has died out from it. Don't get into flash unless your really talented with it.
Now if you do have that talent then where do you start adding spice to your website? I'd start with a fresh design. It's easier to implement flash into a new design then to replace something in an old one. Your site could benefit from a new layout and I think you will learn a lot about design doing this.

Re: What flash bits could/should I add to my site?
I would only add flash as a navigation bar or to show case work either as a banner or for the user to browse.
I would leave the rest of the site HTML. If you look at my site i have a flash banner just showing a little animation www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk Or to show some portfolio work which is pure flash. www.lizgregsonphotography.com |

Re: What flash bits could/should I add to my site?
Well, when I am looking for a new design I go to http://cssmania.com/ and get some design ideas. You can use whatever color you want, but look at those sites and get inspired. While I would never copy a design, I have been known to hold up a copy of a design like that and teach myself how they did different effects. It's a great way to improve layout design as well as photoshop tutorials. The big thing is, make your site different than everyone else's.

Re: What flash bits could/should I add to my site?
I would start by re-designing that site and not think about flash. Get a nice, functional and appealing site first, then you can think about spicing it up with nice flash.
Flash for menus is overkill and stupid IMO. |
