Windows Vista

So ... I've been thinking of upgrading from XP to Vista ....

For those of you who have it ... which version do you have?

Is Vista Home Premium enough? Will Adobe CS3 stuff work on it?

I know my box can handle it ... I got a dual core w/ 2gigs of ram in there that I purchased last x-mas so ... I think I'm ok with that .... right?

Re: Windows Vista

Karinne.. NOOO!
I downgraded after a week.
truly awful I must say.

However 2GB is the perfect amount for Vista and dual core is great for it too.
Adobe CS3 seems to be made for Vista in that it works perfectly and blends in with the theme.

Everything else is slow and annoying I found though.
And some smaller Apps which people like, e.g. some text editors will most likely not work on Vista.

Re: Windows Vista

Oi oi
It will be good when they fix a lot of issues.
I might go back to it when they have a service pack in about a year or so.

Re: Windows Vista

Ok i don't really think that 2gb of ram is good. I used 2 and when i has itunes FireFox and dreamweaver up it told me to get more ram. The system stopped.

Also dreamweaver 8 crashes a lot ( might be me) Oh you have Cs3 o well

One week and you would forget Xp. I have Ultimate.

A clean install is better than a upgrade install. ( If you upgrade to vista from xp remove nero FIRST)

Re: Windows Vista

I have Ultimate, too. Best one, yet most expensive. I say, stick to Mac Leopard, which I use as well (I own two laptops).

Re: Windows Vista

wow ... you guys were able to afford Ultimate huh?

I know it uses more resources so that might be why it crashes alot with only 2g of ram?!

hmmmm....

Re: Windows Vista

I have a dual core with 2g of ram. I usually have cs3, ie, moz, dreamweaver and windows media player (watching tv) open all the time, never once have I crashed. I also have three 24inch monitors in full "aero" mode. The only thing I can say is make sure you have a decent graphics card and you should be fine with vista.

Re: Windows Vista

Well, I can honestly say that VISTA SUCKS! I am so disappointed at the security flaws and bugs found in the Operating System. I would not upgrade to Vista until after the first service pack. I'm sure it will be much better after that.

Re: Windows Vista

Agree with Jacob. I thought, by now, everyone would have learned, you don't buy a microsoft OS until it has had at least once service pack on it. That is common sense.

Re: Windows Vista

I think its too soon to upgrade to VISTA, i have tested Ultimate version and came back to XP, i have tested cs3 products on it, they all have worked except the video editing tools like Premiere, After Effects, Encore.
i think its better to use XP now, wait until SP1 for VISTA come, but i heard it wont fix any performance issues ! just some minor bugs !
instead try SP3 for XP when it comes.
if you love playing, i heard that hardware manufactures said that they dont have any program for DX10 now, also microsoft says that too !
So stick to XP... in my opinion

Re: Windows Vista

Your all wrong. not really i can see were you all are coming from. I was luck and did work experience in a computer shop. Were they upgraded my pc. It has much better hardware that vista needs.

I don't love vista but i do like it. When i first started with it the printer did not work, there is a update for that now.

This line always helps me in Pc's

Re: Windows Vista

Karinne.

Wait til at least SP1 when they'll iron out a lot of the bugs and problems. XP didn't really come into it's own til SP2 :o

Re: Windows Vista

I can't understand the motivation for switching to Vista, unless you're buying a new PC.

What exactly does Vista do that you want? Or is it just the shiny, glassy, Mac-like visuals?
