Re: Block Architecture

Is this your site or someone else's?
I think it's much to boring. White background, black text, black-and-white photograph (homepage), and just a simple, almost unnoticeable footer that looks like a magnification of a piece of cloth (stiches). I think this is much to simple of a design. There's no life at all! No offense, but I'm just critiquing...
The good thing is that it's good, clean, valid code.
Cheers

Re: Block Architecture

Well, if it's what they want, then it's fine. Good thing your code is valid...

Re: Block Architecture

I kind like it but it was hard to find the navigation. You might wanna put it up top, and make the font a little bigger because it's kind of hard to click on each link.

Re: Block Architecture

I like the simple, clean design.

Your text is too small. Your logo and navigation are in the wrong place: they should be at the top of the page, not the bottom. Why? Convention. Conventions make websites easy to use. On 800*600 resolution, none of your navigation is visible without scrolling.

In particular, the navigation is very hard to spot. I thought at first that your site had only one page!

Well done for writing valid, Strict code. It's a pleasure to see someone using <dl>s as a title/content pairing method; but in this example, surely the items are structural headings. Here's the structure you should have:
Code: Select all
<h1>Block Architecture</h1>

<h2>News</h2>

<h3>October 2007</h3>

<p>Block Architecture were shortlisted...</p>
<dd>s should not be used as a replacement for paragraphs. Inside a <dd>, you may include <p> elements. And this code is just terrible:

Code: Select all
<dd>&nbsp;</dd>
This is a novel variation of the usual "<p>&nbsp;</p>" rubbish. Use CSS margins or padding instead.

Re: Block Architecture

*yawns*

Sorry mate but it's boring... makes me think that if I was going to hire these guys as architects I'd get a boring building... Even if that isn't the case.

Architects are all about pushing boundaries and being on the bleeding edge of style. make this website stand out.

Great way to put it! Style is needed! As I said, put live into it. I don't want to buy a simple, boring box for a house...

Re: Block Architecture

Here, these guys fail in pretty much the same way you do...

http://www.davidchipperfield.co.uk/

The buildings are fabulous but the site is totally uninspiring.

Now this..... Is an Architect site!!
