1 & 1 internet
Hi, just wondering if any of you guys have ever used Access with 1 & 1 internet. Only I am having a lot of problems adding rows to simple tables. I have aske 1 & 1 and done exactly what they suggested but the database keeps being corrupted. Is it easy to use MS SQL server??? Any thoughts welcome.

Re: 1 & 1 internet
Depends on whether you are using ASP or PHP although overall I think most of us would say MySQL is a lot easier.

Re: 1 & 1 internet
Don't use access! Access is for begineer! If you have experience in Access, start learning MySQL!
If you have problem starting, just go to our MySQL forum here!

Re: 1 & 1 internet
MySQL is definitely the way to go... I use it all the time! It's real easy to use a command line and tell the database what to do. In actual English, too! Not some crap that you can only use if you memorize it...
Example: SHOW DATABASES; will display the available databases on the current server...

Re: 1 & 1 internet
Access / ASP are design by Microsoft! And they are well suite together!
Could I ask your opinion Alex why you use ACCESS with ASP and not MySQL? Just wanted to know your reason

Monie, basically because of the hassle to get it working in the first place.

Re: 1 & 1 internet
Hehehe, I agree with you Alex! Maybe for begineer it's ok, once you know the basic function of sql, you could migrate to MySQL

Re: 1 & 1 internet
No, I'm skilled with structured query languages, just don't like the way to connect to mysql in ASP.

Re: 1 & 1 internet
Yeah, me too. I prefer php :: it's so easy, and pretty much made for that purpose...

I was talking generally... I remember learning MySQL without having any knowledge about it as well as mssql! I found out learning MSSQL is much more easy that MySQL. Once you get familiar with MSSQL, you should have no problem learning MySQL, maybe you will stuck somewhere in the setting up process tho..

Re: 1 & 1 internet
MSSQL and MySQL, although very similar in syntax and keywords, I find that MySQL is more sensical due to the keywords being named more appropriately.
