[SOLVED] Dreamweaver Template
When I was designing a template for my website, Dreamweaver gave it the extension .dwt. I tried to upload the .dwt file to the server at Zymic.com and it's not allowed. Is there a workaround for this problem? Can I change the exension of the .dwt file without corrupting it?

Re: Dreamweaver Template
Change it to .txt, upload it.
Then once it's uploaded, change it back to .dwt. Should work!

Re: Dreamweaver Template
Doesn't dwt stand for 'Dreamweaver Template'?
Do you not need to use that template *some how* to create a .html/.php file? I don't have a scooby doo because i have never used it before!

Re: Dreamweaver Template
Jim, the DWT file is just the template file. Once you have the template exactly how you want it, resave it as index.html file or any other file you want to create. The dwt file stays on your computer only. You use it to make all other pages.
Once the other pages are renamed as .html files you can upload those to the server to use. Make sense? |

Re: Dreamweaver Template
Okay but will I be able to change the template againwhen I need to? Cuz I have the template applied to about six pages.. so when I want to change it I will use the .dwt file on my pc and then upload the six files again as .html right?

Re: Dreamweaver Template
When you update your template, DW should ask you to update all files using the template.
Then you will have to re-upload all the files that use the template to your host. An easier way is to use PHP includes, which only require you to edit one file If you want to use this, we will tell you more!

Re: Dreamweaver Template
Oh I get it now. I didn't really understand how the template thing works... So all of the editable regions are used only when I'm editing the page, and the webpage on the host's server does not need the .dwt file to get any elements on the web page. Thanks!

Re: Dreamweaver Template
Since this problem is solved, could you mark it as solved via thread tools at the top?
