Why not site5.com?
Very cheap.

Re: What do you think of them?

I assumed from the OP being from Montreal that they wouldn't want UK hosting.
If you do, WESH are brilliant

Bah ... I didn't even check ...

I don't know any of the hosts above.

You can try BluePhyre ... very reliable and he's in Ottawa.

Re: What do you think of them?

I have worked with hostgator before in the past, and they are a great US hosting company. As is site5.com. But for a good UK web host look into WESH. As for the other hosts you have listed, their websites look unprofessional and cheap, they look to be overnight hosts.

Re: What do you think of them?

Hey Silva

Hostgator.com:
They still appear to be overselling disk space and bandwidth. Just how many websites do you honestly think will use 1000GB of disk space, all on 1 server, and what happens if you want to use the "unlimited bandwidth"

where will they draw the line on your website? The more bandwidth your website use's, the more content being dished out, consuming more CPU resources (Which is where their fair usage policy will probably kick in and stop you using unlimited bandwidth.

As yet, to date, nothing can possibly be "unlimited" as everything know to mankind has has a limit somewhere right?

Lunarpages.com:
They used to have a nice website, but I see they are now using what "looks like" wordpress to power their website. Not a bad thing in itself, wordpress is great software.

Cant see anything too out of the ordinary with lunarpages

Serverpoint.com:
Havent really seen them before but it says "Since 1998" right beside their domain name, yet there domain name was registered in June 2001, and on their about us page it states that in 2003 they started premiaenet.com yet on the premianet.com website it says "in business since 1998" (5 years before premianet.com was launched according to them)

I think if I was looking for hosting in the USA, I'd go with lunarpages (Only if I had to choose between these 3 companies) but not before doing some research @ webhostingtalk.com and see what others "Really" say about them.

Good luck in your search and thanks to the team here for thinking of us too

ServerPoint.com has really been in the web hosting business since 1998. Their name was the other. It's called Apushosting.com. You may visit this web site and see that it's called ServerPoint.com now.

Which one do you mean?
The link ServerPoint.com works well. Do you mean the link aplushosting.com? But it loads too and I see that it was the old name of ServerPoint.

Re: What do you think of them?

Tу link is working fine for me as well,
Silva what hosting paclage are you interested in?
If you need anything larger than shared, to what degree are you going to rely on support? Any special apps?
I'm asking as i think that package plans offered by the companies are more or less the same, apart from the fact that Serverpoint.com employs Zeus server, so that's support quality you should look into.

Re: What do you think of them?

If your just after shared hosting do consider trying out special offer this month. 8months for a penny, if you don't like us/feel our support isnt as good as you need they don't renew and you will have lost a grand total of a penny!

Yes, it looks like there are plenty of UK hosts here, still it's wiser ti find someone in the USA, getting back to ServerPoint.com, they offer a free upgrade, using their code B35 you can upgrade to a bigger amount of disk space and bandwidth from shared plans.

Re: What do you think of them?

I don't think that web hosting companies take money for upgrading.

Re: What do you think of them?

Siteground doesn't have the fastest servers but a good package.

5000 gig monthly bandwidth
500 gig webspace
Unlimited MySQL databases and sub-domains
And tons more. Good customer support too.

£45 yearly with domain name....

barrakuda - I hear this quite a lot from people and have never really understood it. Why do you believe it's better to buy from a US host?
Surely the fact that you wont rank so highly in UK searches is enough to put you off?
