Domain Names Help

Hi all!
I was going to purchase a domain name for my own website portfolio, as a freelance web designer, and when I went to buy it at Godaddy.com it offered me two more domain names:

.org
.info

for an extra $10
And on there it says it improves traffic, and expands my online presence!
What I was wondering, is it worth it to get these other two domains?
would it make my traffic become more?
Or is it not worth while at all?

Thanks for anyones Help!
Cracka

Re: Domain Names Help

I think isnt really worth wile at all getting .org/.info - people recognise these as non profit types of websites, i feel.

I recommend just sticking to the usual .com and .co.uk.

Hope that helps!

Re: Domain Names Help

.com and co.uk are the most profitable extensions IMO.

Re: Domain Names Help

The only way it would help was if customers typed in your domain wrongly. This goes for .coms and .co.uks mostly though - for example, if you own a .co.uk, it's worth buying the equivalent .com if someone types your domain in incorrectly because they can't remember what it is exactly.

However, for .org or .info, there isn't much point as most people rarely try out these TLDs when searching for sites.

Re: Domain Names Help

It's a good idea to get a few externsions, if you are serious about your project and sure that one day it will start to bring you lots of money, then in order not to lose traffic you'd better have all the extensions of your domain.

Re: Domain Names Help

I bought ".net" and ".info" as part of my deal when i got my ".com".
Shouldn't have bothered! Never use them, and redirecting does not benefit in the slightest.
