Which is the Best CSS Editing Tool?

Hi all,

This forum really helps me a lot in learning CSS. And I started creating many CSS websites with the tips and tricks given by experts here. And now, I like to know what softwares are people using to create their CSS sites. I usually use Dreamweaver for creating my sites. But I found few other softwares which is also good. For example, I like Aptana(An opensource sotware) bcoz it shows browser support while typing the code and few other features helps me. I also use Adobe GoLive bcoz it has built in templates and I just need to drag and drop and easy to manage. Are there any other softwares which helps to create CSS??...easily

I use DW's code view only.

As for a CSS editor, check out TopStyle

CSSEdit is awesome but I generally use skEdit for everything. skEdit has a Version control system integrated into it, but CSSEdit has a very simple "Milestone" feature so you have every version of your CSS a click away.

On Windows as stated TopStyle is probably your best bet and there is also a free light version.

Unless you have a Mac, you won't be able to "explore" CSSEdit and skEdit

Re: Which is the Best CSS Editing Tool?

If you are on a mac, then you can use BBEdit
If you are on the windows, try Notpad ++, or UltraEdit (my favourite)

I haven't worked on Mac environment before. So I think I never can use CSSEdit and skEdit unless they release a windows version .

Re: Which is the Best CSS Editing Tool?

Hi I have used an editor called Rapid CSS 2007 by Blumental Software. It has plenty of features and value for money (just 20 USD for personal license) You may purchase it or try a trial version if you visit the company website Blumental
But I generally use Dreamweaver for code editing.
Best regards.

Re: Which is the Best CSS Editing Tool?

I just tried CodeLobster. It seems to be good. But I dont see much difference btw DreamWeaver and CodeLobster. CodeLobster has an additional feature of HTML Tidy Validation. The same can be done to DreamWeaver with some 3rd party extensions.

Maybe, I haven't explored CodeLobster fully. So, still working on it.

Re: Which is the Best CSS Editing Tool?

Yes monie, code lobster is also good and has plenty of features as I checked once. for validations web developer tools in firefox are excellent . and we can use firebug for live debugging of CSS and Javascript codes. That is extremely useful for coders.
