My First Ever

http://www.scenesters.co.uk/index2.html

That is my first ever css based design. How is it looking? I know there maybe errors and more bridges to cross but whats it like for a first attempt.

First attempt? It's brilliant! Outdone yourself.

Re: My First Ever

Hmmmmm anyone wanna shine a light on how I acheive wrapping the text round that image.

I have tried slicing the image up in to many levels and some how algining the text without success and its getting very late to think? Will hope to find the answer tomorrow.

Or normally in my case try to sleep and come up with the answer.

Re: My First Ever

That's definitely got the makings of a very nice site, you obviously have a good eye for design.

As that image is in the background, then you can't wrap text round it as such, you'd have to just play around with the padding and margins on the text to make it move in from the side on that first paragraph, or you could move the bulk of the text down and have a heading in that top bit. I don't actually think it matters if text goes over the background image there as long as it's bold enough to read, which a heading for instance would be.

Once you've done a bit more on the site, you should post it into the critique section to get some more opinions and suggestions.

Nice work though

Re: My First Ever

Can i recommend that you dont use that many images - the background could easily be done with only one image...

Agreed. Was just trying a playing with something new. Would it be more effective with just the one image rather than the 6 slices.

Personally I wouldn't like it over the top of the image but I do understand what you are saying. As for a head to the left of it is the way I had it planned out in my head anyway so maybe that will be the way foward when doing so.

Re: My First Ever

Oh a question! I do plan to use mysql and php as I have done in the past. With designing the site in CSS rather than HTML Table will I run in to any problems or will all be as normal?

Silly question really I should just go with it and find out and then ask but its just went though my head.
