Uploading Website, Very Confused!

Firstly Hello everyone i'm new,
Ok here goes... I've just registered my domain name and have sorted out my hosting. I've been designing my website in dreamweaver mx 2004 and am ready to upload it onto my hosting site, however here's where i've reached a dead end. This is my first "proper" website so to speak and im utterly confused as to where i should be uploading it to within my hosting site once i have logged in, this is the first time i've actually seen a hosting page. Everything up until this point has been fairly straight forward the domain name has been released etc, there are many obvious catagories that i understand such as password options etc etc. however within the command menu i have i number of options i am totally unfamilar with, they are -

File Manager,
FTP Manager,
MySQL Manager,
Settings,
SSH Telnet,

All i realy want to know is how to upload my site from dreamweaver and will my images/content be saved onto the hosting site from my hard drive, i've tried my hardest to explain but any help right now would be amazing as im totally at a loss!
thanks,

Re: Uploading Website, Very Confused!

Have you set up an FTP account?
If so it's just a case of setting up dreamweaver to send the files.
If not post back and I'll help

Re: Uploading Website, Very Confused!

You can set up and FTP site with DW and that will let you working right off the server.

But first I would advise to get your files on your server first via an FTP software (perhaps that's what the FTP Manager is for?)

Re: Uploading Website, Very Confused!

Try downloading an FTP program. You can get a good one for free from download dot com called Filezilla.

Re: Uploading Website, Very Confused!

I would get filezilla from sourceforge as you can probably get a more recent build.

Yep i ditto what moojoo says. Filezilla is the best one i have come across yet - especially v3.0. It is so easy to use.

Re: Uploading Website, Very Confused!

I use filezilla exclusively for uploads. Open source, I love that and lots of users so you can always find tips and workarounds.

Re: Uploading Website, Very Confused!

Dreamweaver's FTP is fine... I've used it for years and out of the zillions of sites I've designed I've only had one issue and that was due to the host.

Go to the top of the page.
Select Site>>> New Site>>>
You may find the Basic tab easier to use your first time.
So select Basic.
Name the Site.
Put in the URL for the site.
continue until you are done.

If you get stuck, let me know..
