Browser Question

I noticed on another computer today with a older version of IE that my site did not look at all the same and I was trying to download IE v6 on my computer but it wont let me cause I already have version 7. Is there anyway to get them both on my computer?

Re: Browser Question

I personally don't bother trying to get my websites compatible for < IE4.
Just FF and IE6/7. I guess I should try to for Opera and Safari.

Re: Browser Question

I use mulitiple IE's and I also use Opera and Safari for testing and I noticed they are all pretty similar with layout apart from IE6 which is really poor.

I did start a thread on this over a week ago but i can't find the link. There are links posted to download all these extra browsers

Re: Browser Question

Cheers for that link Stew.

IE6 is the cause of so much grief. I'm not even a professional web designer and I hate it!

Re: Browser Question

Tis good, really these days you can get away with supporting IE 6 and up. IE 5.5 if you are feeling generous. Anything below 5.5 is pretty much a waste of time. In that scenario I would set a conditional for lt IE 5.5 and just serve them up a text only version of the content if needed =).

Re: Browser Question

I have been using Multiple IE for almost a year now. You will find earlier versions of IE occasionally clashes with javascript aswell.

I have found this tool invaluable, especially since IE7 came out, all of a sudden instead of fixing things there was a whole more compatibility testng to do.

Re: Browser Question

Most work places will use IE as it's easier to manage with global restrictions.
Therefore, big companies with lots of employees who surf the net will be on IE.

Re: Browser Question

We don't really need a poll Simon,
there are web statistics everywhere that would be more reliable.
Such as w3schools.
