Re: what software

You'll have to be a bit more specific quazzy.

Do you mean software for graphics or html editors?

Re: what software

adobe has both
since karinne linked you to editors.
A good graphics program is (besides adobe photoshop, firework and illustrator) the gimp.
Bit of a learning curve though.

Re: what software

If you can afford it I recommend Dreamweaver (Any version from MX onwards but the more recent the better) and either Fireworks or Photoshop for graphics. Filezilla is a good free FTP program.

Re: what software

After the merger of Macromedia and Adobe, Adobe get the market of major web design software. If one can afford, i think following software will provide solution for every thing under web design, and these softwares are:
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Flash
Adobe Fireworks
Adobe Dreamweaver

and as jackfanklin said: "the more recent the better"

Coda, skEdit, BBEdit, Transmit are my favorite all time coding applications. Coda is #1!

Re: what software

what do ya'll think of Go Live CS for Mac OSX as a webdesign program? I use Photoshop for graphics and import into Go Live --it came free with my computer, and I'm not financially able to get Dreamweaver. Any thoughts on Dreamweaver vs. Go Live?

Re: what software

I have never really used Go Live but i presume it is just a WYSIWYG editor. I would recommend you to not use a WYSIWYG because the bad code it produces.

Please remember that you can use a simple text editor to write code!

Re: what software

We've seen sites posted here in the critique forum that have used GoLive or sites with issues that we've had to help fix. The code with GoLive is not good at all.

It is heavily bloated with inline css. Dreamweaver is fantastic used in code view. But it's expensive. Unless you already own it you maybe better off with a less expensive or free html editor. I would persuade you to move away from GoLive when you get the chance.

Re: what software

Dreamweaver cs3 and Flash cs3 are always good and you may need fireworks too depending on what you're doing

Re: what software

I was always taught to hand code html in Notepad and I prefer it now. I have tried using Dreamweaver but I found it easier to hand code

Dreamweaver code view... or if you really want to have fun...split view so you can see what your hand coding is doing.

I used to have a problem with the loading speed of Dreamweaver when I used the last one by Macromedia. I recently started using the new Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The loading speed is 10x faster.

Re: what software

Paint.NET is quite good also. It's free.
They took paint, and made it worth while.
Has about the same functions as PS (PhotoShop).
