i just want to ask how many pages can a site directory website (that im willing to build) have. Is it structured so that there is a new page for each category

To be honest, I am confused by your question. Are you referring to how many pages can a website have? Or how many pages can a directory website have? Both are unlimited, unless you are hiring someone to do this for you, or you are limited by your website host. If you could provide more info, that would make things much easier to understand.

No ... you should have 1 page. On that 1 page you query the url (the ?category=Web) and check against the db for all the links.
