Re: graphics editor

I am assuming Gimp is much like any other programe, if you keep at it long enough you will get to like it, until you can afford to pay for one that you do like and get on with.

To me, it's not
most programs, there's a small learning curve
the gimp i could just not get on with.
hope you have better results!

Alex Alex Alex, what am I going to do with you?

No it is NOT just a photo editing program. Not even close. It is a complete design program that you can draw in, create websites in, Not much different than photoshop except for two things. Not as steep a learning curve and reasonably priced. You can use shapes, fills, presets, all the fancy smancy things. There are great forums for help when getting started also.

It's not the least expensive but you get tons of bang for your buck!
It's not as well know as photoshop but it has helped me create some nice graphics. It is not a vector program however.

Re: graphics editor

Sometimes the software gets in the way of you doing stuff. Unless you're a whizz in PS or Illustrator you will struggle to create anything at first, even if you have a clear idea of what you want.

Simpler programs, like fireworks and PhotoImpact are great for doing things quickly. And to be honest, a lot of the time the results are the same. It's only really advanced and intricate stuff that you need the higher end programs for. I've been using PS Elements a lot recently. It's got a nice interface and I seem to get stuff done quicker.

GIMP is a great little program but the learning curve is a bit steep. Luckily there is a great community out there and you'll find loads of tutorials for it.

Pete.
