Help please, I'm building an online art gallery

Hello,

I'm building a website for an artist and am currrently using photoshop 7.0 and front page .
He would like his artwork to be displayed as if in a gallery but as its online instead of walking around a room and looking at paintings, be able to scroll around the room using the mouse pointer.
Before I carry on further with more information is this possible and can anyone point me in the right direction??
please
Natalie x

This would be perfect in flash, if I understand. Do you actually want to simulate a traditional art gallery? So have the user actually 'browse' the gallery in some way or do you just want a conventional online gallery?

Pete.

Even if you did go down that route it wouldn't take that long. The textures would be fairly simple, the surfaces essentially flat.

I would like to simulate a traditional art gallery with each painting clickable for different views (they are uv reactive, and even glow also)

Re: Help please, I'm building an online art gallery

Flash is probably the way to go for that, but if the artist actually wants to sell works off their site, you may want to include an html version as well. There are also many gallery packages out there, most use php.

First think about the reason for the gallery -- show off the work, make sales, get representation?

Then think about the mood and "brand" of the artist. What is their philosphy? Whatever solution you choose it should fit the artwork and the artist's message.

Not what I said mate.
I know what it can do.
But I'm not experienced with it so I don't know what to recommend.

I agree. Flash would be the easiest method to accomplish this....at least I would think. Some minor actionscript and lots of drawing and you are good to go!
