custom alts

I come across a lot of websites that when you hover over a link a box will come uplike when you use alt="" but they have styled if there own way.
like they have there own colour font and background.
does anyone know how to do this.
i can't find an example at the moment :/

See you found your own answer ... they're called tooltips.

Add some JS and the tooltip will follow your mouse as you hover which is even cooler.
