Wordpress hang Time

Hi,

As those of you who read the critique section will know I have recently redesigned my blog and this time used wordpress, rather than code my own blog.

But, its loading time is absolutely awful. I've measured it as mucvh as 15seconds and as little as 7 seconds!

It is slow even when the page has been visited before and cached so...

My initial thoughts are that it may be somethign to do with the host? Retrieving info from the database?

Why would it be slow loading? Is this a question I should be asking my host?

Any ideas welcome.

I can only assume that it must be a problem with your host. Other wordpress blogs load pretty quickly for me.

Yea same. i think i best get onto them!

Could be the database thingy. WP is used all over the place and there aren't usually problems. Maybe your host (who are they, by the way?) are having problems at the minute.

Never heard of them. I'll do a bit of digging, they could have a history.

P.S. I was trying to find some suitable smileys and after looking for about 5 minutes decided to give up. So, and this is a serious request, I would like to see a smiley of a private detective dog who passes a magnifying glass past his face thereby increasing the size of its face (which is extremely humorous to those in the know). I would also like to see a smiley that is basically a man in a trench coat with a sign saying "A vile Henchman!". This can be used whenever we sense something fishy is going on. If we can't find them, if I make them will you load them up?

Well I signed up to them - then went and read reviews (I know wrong way round!) and the reviews said awful service, no contact, slow response time.

But I have had no problems at all - and I've pestered them a fair bit since being hosted by them!

Anyway, I have sent a support ticket to them so should hear back within 24hours.

I just 'googled' them and they got mainly good reviews. Some said service had dropped off a bit of late but nothing damning. Maybe they drown puppies at night when no-one is looking. It's possible. I'll probably get sued now. Defamation of character, libel. They throw the book at me.

I certainly am, I've actually never made one before and don't know how but it's a smiley, it can't be that hard.
