Flash scripting

Ok, having a button prob, I have created a button but when I click on the image/ symbol in the stage it tells me in the Action's stage that "Current Selection cannot have actions applied to it"

Hope you under stand, what do I do or what have I done wrong?

I can't help much with Flash 9 right now since I don't have it at work.

Didn't you have this problem a few weeks back and figured it out?

You don't have to apply actions to the button either, create another layer called actions and give the button an instance name of button...

Then do your code on the actions layer above the button put it like this:

button.onRelease = function()
{
<do whatever>
}

I know, I have had this prob before, but I can't seem to do it the same way, it's as if I am not doing something, but have done everything the same way. The way you just suggested through up so many error messages it was not funny. I will soon workout, do one then test it rather than doing all and having an argument with an inanimate object.

Ok done it, if I change the AS to 2.0 instead of 3.0 it works, Sod the new version when I can work the older one better. Bloody update!!!!!

If you put text in a button with a background, the text and background should appear, yes. Because in mine, the background appears only. Any there is text in up, over, down and hit, none appears though

But it is on the stage fine

just does not show when you test it
