adobe contribute

Hey gang,

My big question tonight is - do I purchase Contribute as a whole and get the client to purchase a license? or do they purchase full Contribute as well?

I have the opportunity to design a site for a client who wishes to update and add to it themselves, and I am considering Contribute because I use Dreamweaver and the cient doesn't need to be able edit every part of the pages so I will be using the template facility. I need to quote them, so do I quote the full software costs, or a license?

Gerry, I think this product is aimed at lazy developers as opposed to people giving it to their clients. I happen to think it's a brilliant tool when a full CMS is overkill and the client has no technical knowledge. To answer your question, I think you will need to purchase a single user license for each client you give this too. Not bad at £125 (even if it is practically double the price of the US version).

Yes Gerry, have them purchase a copy for themselves.

I find it handy to add in things like updates quickly.

That is why I always use a CMS. Textpattern is awesome.

I've been playing with EE a lot recently and it is by far the best CMS I have evr used. Flexible and powerful with all sorts of extra modules. It offers the sort of versatility that I you can't get easily with TP or WP.

I agree with Pete, after approx 30 mins of playing around with it i have built a working blog (... well very close with no styling). Although Textpattern looks pretty powerful, i still cant get the hang of it

Textpattern isn't meant to be as powerful as EE and isn't. Its perfect for blogging but lacks flexibility, in my opinion. The things is with these CMS solutions is that you have to think creatively to sus how to set them up for different apps. Its amazing what you can do with a simple blog engine if you think about it hard enough.
