Resizing swfs without distorting content

Is anyone out there aware of a method of being able to change the size dimensions of a swf without distorting the images/content? In other words, changing the swf file would just crop the content or simply extend the file. I've tried various methods but it isn't working and I'm not sure if it's possible. Any help here will be greatly appreciated!

hasnt it got something to do with vectors or something.
(ive just seen that word vectors thrown around when people are resizing images)

Are you talking about making it bigger without distorting?

really more about making it smaller w/out distortion. So that dynamically imported jpgs in the background would not be distorted if the actual dimensions of the swf file were altered.

I'm not sure there is a way to do this since those aren't vector images.

If you create graphics/logos right in flash it doesn't have a problem resizing these objects since they are vector. When you move into using .jpg's and other images you don't have the same control.
