Now ... having given that warning about the superb reference manual, I should suggest alternative. Really a bit of a problem in
PHP as it's best learnt from practise / experimentation / mentoring rather than from a book or web site (it's one of "those" subjects, I'm afraid). And I don't know any mentors / classes I can point you at on the West Coast or in Hawaii ... unless you happen to be ski-ing at Tahoe over the new year in which case I'll meet you in the bar one evening!
