My URL icon isn't appearing. Waa, waa, waa!
Hi, it's Tim.
My site: www.crewsfx.com isn't showing the little icon in the address bar! I just don't know what to do! I'm in such a pickle and feel that visitors will throw their computers out the window in rage if my site hasn't got this added bit of eye candy fun! View the source when you get over there. I did the little icon as a jpeg. And then just renamed it to favicon.ico Does it have to be in gif format originally? Although it is such a small thing i would love to incorporate it. It's all about attention to detail and would be really cool to have it. I think i might be a geek. Thanks in advance. Tim.....
You need to create this as a 16 color, 16x16 image saved in proper .ico format... you cant just rename a jpg.

Thanks Rob. But how do you do that?
Photoshop doesn't have an export as .ico and i opened it up in Iconographer (a Mac program that does icons) and can't get it to 16x16. |

I know there are programs out there that you can use to do it - have a look on download.com for a free one.

Thanks Tim. By the way, what program did you use to make your avatar in order to get the lines gradually thinner?
p.s. Looks more like a deformed rabbit. Only joking, ermmm..... I'd say its a hybrid! |

I'm not sure I know what you mean? Lines gradually thinner?

Yeah, i just realised after i said it that it just kind of gives the illusion that you've done it in the style whereby lines get thinner - like in manga cartoons etc. But on closer inspection it doesn't. Although, maybe the chin lines do?

Well, to be honest, I just pinched it from an avatar collection. I can't claim the credits for it!

I've done it with the help of:
http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tuto...r/favicon.html Think of the amount of computers i'm saving! Hang on, that's the opposite of what i'm trying to do. Isn't it? |
