Why is my Flash file so big?

http://www.amandacarpenterphotography.com/main.php
I was going to post this in my other thread but it got closed.

The above Flash is 58k! But it's only composed of 5 .gif files that are 400x300. I would like to implement some photos but I'm afraid it's going to take way to long to load. Any tips or advice for making it smaller? Why is it so big!??

Thanks in advance everyone...

The fact that you're using bitmaps for the relatively simple text is why, if you just trace the text in flash into lines and fills, it'll really cut down on the file size.

i could do it for you if you want; i'm pretty good at tracing in vector programs.

Agreed, making the graphics, especially these...in flash will lower your file size quite a bit.

nothing actually, i have a flash decompiler, so i've already decompiled it to an .fla file and redone it, it's not perfect, but a lot smaller (5kb) and clearer, you can tweek the timing as you wish, and re-add any action script it had (by the looks of it there wasn't any)

the flash 8 file (if it doesn't open just tell me and i'll export it as an Flash MX file)

and the rendered flash movie file

you'll notice i now have a folder for client work... finally.

Re: Why is my Flash file so big?

I'm going to try and implement some photos into my Flash project. What is the best, fastest-loading way to put images into flash. Should I limit myself to the number of images I use, or is their a way to optimize everything to load fast?

Thanks in advance
-Joe

well, depends on the image, if it's something relatively simple, you could just do a vector form of it, if it doesn't have many colours, you could use a gif with a low colour pallette, other wise regular gifs and pngs should do, i'm honestly not that sure.

just tell me what kind of images you want in it and i'll see what could be done.

Re: Why is my Flash file so big?

What is the effect you are looking for by using said images? It all depends on the purpose? Is it a gallery? Just some images fading in and out!?

Cheers,

Scott
