Need suggestiongs for gallery layouts on my site

I'm planning to redo my artwork section of my site not just to save space/bandwidth and validate it, but to improve the look.

here's my current gallery

http://www.freewebs.com/pyramidia/Artwork/CGArt.html

and my alternate, slightly better version

http://www.freewebs.com/pyramidia/Artwork/CGArt2.html

i'm not sure what to go with; individual preview galleries like what i have (maybe bigger and one per row), or condensed into one, and stuff like special effects when changing (like fade or "spin"). the other pages i'll do the same once i get more than 3 or 4 each (might have to merge some in order to do that though).

any ideas or examples would be appreciated, i want this to be as attractive and efficient as possible when i upgrade with a domain name and what not.

I'm not looking for actual coding, just design ideas, i can figure out the coding for it myself... hopefully

You can always do thumbnails with a light box effect. I would prefer all the images in one place. Check out this site: www.davidwilsonillustration.com he has a nice setup.

Hope this helps a little...

Um... preferably not flash, don't have a clue how to make those things, though i bet i could find a tutorial somewhere.

i will probably put them all in one spot, a lot less coding for sure, and likely double the size of the thumbnails, or tripple... no, double

Lightbox is nice and I have used the Hover Image Gallery by SonSpring several times. Both are relatively easy to implement.

Re: Need suggestiongs for gallery layouts on my site

Definitely gonna go with the HoverBox, less space needed, but it's such a pain to redesign the layout; i want separate rows with different number of images for each category, but if i add a <br> to separate the rows like that, it either doesn't do it the way i want it to or, after changing all sorts of elements, it doesn't work in IE.

maybe i'll try that thumbnails gallery thing i found on cssplay... oooh, ideas...
