I think you should display some personal worl though. Shows off what you are capable of when limitations are not placed on you. A client is not looking for what they have done but for what they will do in the future. A good and varied portfolio can show this.

Ryan, I'm not sure about your little analogy. I know architects who have put the house they designed for themselves in their portfolio. So it all depends on how good it is. I would put a personal site in my portfolio, say a blog or similar but only if it was especially good.
