Struggling with Keywords
Hi there
Am an amateur and just have an online business in my spare time, am trying to optimise it though as traffic is very poor. I'm struggling to find useful keywords with Wordtracker - nothing I search for seems to be a good keyword - things like funky baby clothes, cool baby gifts, alternative babywear etc etc (site is www.nappypackers.com). I'm just stuck now as I want to look at keyword density etc in my web pages, however, can't even find any suitable keywords to focus on.... Any ideas? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks Lisa |

Re: Struggling with Keywords
Hi, by complete coincedence the book I'm reading at the moment "Seach Engine optimization: An hour a day" uses a baby shop as an example throughout the book!
You might want to get a copy I've found it reallyt useful to get me goping on the SEO front. Keywords they used were unique baby clothes, unique baby shower gifts etc. |

Re: Struggling with Keywords
I think your selection of keywords is fine...
...but I looked at your site and have a couple of comments: 1. be careful with the footer links. You're dangerously close to spamming. 2. having too many links on a page will reduce the weight/importance of each link. try to separate your keywords into groups so relevant keywords link to one another, and a few link across groups.. 3. new baby presents would be better as new baby presents if you can. 3. (this happens on every page, but I'll use this one as an example) title: Cool Baby T-shirt & Babygro - GOOD h1: not present the only heading you have is...
You have the right concept of 1 page for every keypharse, but in order to properly optimize your keywords they should appear in the first heading of the page, which should be a h1. ie.:
Cool Baby T-shirt & Babygro
Hope this helps...

Re: Struggling with Keywords
Thanks guys, that's all really useful and I've taken the comments on board & also ordered the book.
I'll give it a couple of months and see what difference I can make. Thanks again |
