How to reduce the size of the MS Access

Hi:

I have one problem.

If I create many many tables, then delete them, then create new tables, so on. The size of the MS Access file will become large.

So, how can I reduce the size of the file? Even though I delete the tables, the size will NOT become less, so how to reduce the size of the file?

Please let me know, thanks a lot. Thanks.

It's actually quiet easy...

Open up msaccess (just msaccess... dont open a db)

On the tools menu you will find a compact/repair database option.

It will ask you to choose the DB you want to compact.

Good luck

Re: How to reduce the size of the MS Access

The compact and repair reduced the size by about 20% for me, but converting the db to 97 version cut the file size my over a HALF. As far as I'm aware doing this doesn't reduce the functionality of the database. Using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 an ASP script I wrote connected to the db perfectly well. Microsoft has just made their formats more bloated with limited/no improvements in functionality...

Access database seem to be quite rubbish, adding small amounts of data increases the filesize greatly.
