please tell me what is wrong with this ??

please tell me what the hell is wrong with this ??, i thorght it was pretty good, but the customer said to me 'you are no designer' ???

he wanted the other attached image as the logo, but it would not go with anything and make the menu look like crap, that on top of other stuped adjustments ( like the font colour in grey ) he also said it was boring ???

am i wrong ??

Of course it won't go with anything if you're just copying and pasting the image. You should have vectorised it and then set the colours to go with the rest of the menu. If you couldn't do that then that's probably why he said you were "no designer".

One thing I would say about the menu is that it has a very old fashioned look to it, would have been cool to see something more contemporary rather than just looking like another bog standard indian menu.

he asked for traditional, he said he did not like contemporary so thats what he got, i could have vectorised the image, but by when i suggested it, he said he wanted it keep the image the way is was - he also said that he did not like the colours ( even though the colours were what he asked for )

i dont think this guy knows what he wants, if he dont know, how the hell would i ??

I see, then your client is an idiot.

i think i am going to ask for money upfront from now on, did not take me ages, but its still all the time that i spent making something to his standards and now i am not going to get paid for it

That's clients for you. You'll just have to give him something different. It looks quite nice to me. It can be a pain sometimes but that's how it goes, the only problem with design work is clients.

Uhm. I think what your customer was trying to do is reduce your price. I've seen it happen so many times here in Holland. "Always tell the designer you don't like it so he feels he has done something wrong. If you're slick enough you can get a big bite off the costs".
Now he has to find a different designer, but he'll probably do the same to him/her..
