Poor Audio Quality with Flash .mp3; how do I make .mp3 play automatically?
Hey everyone.
I first want to say I am very grateful for all the helpful members of this forum. Im just blown away and I can't wait till I can learn enough to one day teach young ones (like myself, lol) the stuff you are teaching me now... With that, I have a question (or two) Ok Sgaspar11 was kind enough to point me to this tutorial after I asked a question in another thread: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...4821&sliceId=1 I followed the tutorial to the tee, and this is my result: http://www.amandacarpenterphotography.com/main.php as you can see on the front page is a Start/Stop button. woohoo (Im actually quite proud of myself, lol) So my questions are: How can I set it up so the song will automatically start playing as soon as the page loads? I want to keep the buttons in case the user wants to stop the song (The buttons will be located better and look much better after I am done, btw). Ok, Second Question....Why is the .mp3 audio so poor? How can I make it sound as good as the original .mp3? EDIT: Found it. I see you can change the mhz when you export the movie file. I wonder what a good mhz setting to use is that has a good balance between speed and quality? Thanks for the help everyone... -Joe Last edited by BlackReef; Jun 28th, 2007 at 08:10. |

Remove the stop action on the first frame of the movie clip that you have the sound in.
Oh, and a good Mhz quality is like....128 for something like that. What's your current setting for it...Because, different qualities mean different load times for different types of internet connection. Last edited by MrMadison; Jun 28th, 2007 at 09:21. |

I think what I may do is try to edit the Mp3 with an editor, and cut the song in half or possibly be a 1/4 and have it loop around and nobody will notice. Is the above method a good way to get a fast load time with high audio quality? |

As long as the cut doesn't sound cut up or choppy. It should be fine.

Re: Poor Audio Quality with Flash .mp3; how do I make .mp3 play automatically?
Oh, and I removed the stop action from the first frame. Now the music plays automatically, but the play/stop buttons do not work. Do I need to change the action of the buttons to stop it now?
Also, would it be possible for the .mp3 to continue playing whenever the use clicks a link and goes to a different web page? maybe I could set it up so the pause/play (once its working) will be on every page so the user could pause the song no matter what page she was on. help! man I need to go to be, its 3:30am!!! thanks Joe Last edited by BlackReef; Jun 28th, 2007 at 10:22. |

Re: Poor Audio Quality with Flash .mp3; how do I make .mp3 play automatically?
Alright, question and answer time! First off I am going to assume you are inporting the music into flash. This must be the reason you are cutting it to improve load time. Importing music into flash is a discouraged method, as it does slow down loading time. Short sound clips and sound that goes along with your animation...fine! But I would instead recommend you import the music though an XML fle, that will triple load time and be much more efficient. This is the recommend method for MP3 players in flash!
Alright, now the issue with the music cutting off between pages. That is probably because your website is not completely flash, and it is instead part (x)html and css and just has a flash MP3 player on it. If this is the case, there is nothing you can do besides place your site in an iframe. This is also discouraged for SEO reasons. Did I cover everything? Any questions? |

XML File? Sounds intimidating. Is this something that can be achieved through an online tutorial, or is it pretty extensive? Im willing to tackle this problem though
thanks -Joe |
