Learning Flash

I have decided to learn a little flash. However, after going to the first tutorial, it said a drawing tablet is desirable.

Do I need a drawing tablet to do flash?

Thanks,
Pádraig.

Re: Learning Flash

That depends - I'd say I've gotten by for the past 5 years never using one.

If you plan on creating movies with animation and cartoon like characters I'd say a tablet would be a good idea to increase the workflow.

I guess it all depends on what exactly you'll be doing...

Re: Learning Flash

I'll just be making basic animations to practise and stuff.

I think I'll pass on the drawing tablet for now, then.

Re: Learning Flash

Any heavy graphical work requires a tablet. It does depend what you're doing but I couldn't get by without one really. They take some getting used to but if you get a good quality one then the ability to draw straight into illustrator, photoshop or flash is invaluable. Better than using a mouse in my opinion.

Re: Learning Flash

Agreed. Tablets give you a lot more control than a mouse. But if you are just starting and don't want to spend the money on a good one. (If you're going to buy one get a good one) Then a mouse will be fine as you learn.

Re: Learning Flash

I want a big lcd tablet but I need more pennies, they offer so much control. It's like christmas every day, honestly.

Re: Learning Flash

Woo! Yeah, I want a tablet, but have never seen a need for one.

Anyway, I found that learning flash was a lot easier when you just do a whole bunch of random tutorials and start piecing idea's together. If that made any sense Good luck!
