HTML/CSS/Javascript custom scrollbar

Hi there.

I need to make a custom scroll bar instead of the standard OS ones you get. I know that this is not the best thing to do, but it is needed for my clients website. I cant use flash and it must work with all modern browsers (including safari and ie 6)

I have searched on the web for any existing ones, but they are all paid for, does anyone know of a free, opensouce custom scroller?

Thanks

Yes, I did look at that, thanks. found it very difficult to position, I think its something to do with the CSS float property. Also, you need a licence for it as its a commercial website. just wondering if anyone knew any free ones.

Really you shouldn't jack with user interface elements. Is it so critical to have them custom? if so just dot he IE stuff and let the rest handle it as they see fit.

Just tell him it will work as expected in IE which will be most of his user base anyway. as long as it doesn't break the layout in FF, Safari etc shouldn't be an issue. Clients always want this and that, part of your job is to keep them realistic and within budget.

Point taken Moojoo, cheers for that. As you know it can be quite difficult explaining this sometimes.

Re: HTML/CSS/Javascript custom scrollbar

Or they can pony up to pay for the custom script that costs money!
It's there choice. Often when it comes to money, they will decide it isn't "that" necessary.
