web page size

Hi,
I have been slowly trying to design myself a basic website for my business.I used the freebie Yahoo site builder.I got everything just where i want it and published it to my web domain..now if the page is in 'small size' it looks perfect and fits perfectly..if i change the page to maximize everything goes out of place.my design becomes too small for the page..any ideas what i'm doing wrong apart from the obvious mistake in not paying a designer to do it for me:crazy:

Re: web page size

The other obvious mistake is you're using a WYSIWYG to do the job for you. That's like asking a machine to kiss your girlfriend/boyfriend for you

Using Dreamweaver and the likes

Without a link and seeing the code it's pretty hard to help however.

Re: web page size

Hi Macca:
As you can see, using a free site builder isn't a great solution.
Why don't you send us your domain site address and we can look at the code and make suggestions.
OK?

Re: web page size

Why don't you copy and paste the html code. That way you don't have to submit your domain name.
It's better if all the members see it so we can all reply!

Re: web page size

seeing as people learn from other's msitakes,i'll let you know what i did(never tried anything like this before i.e webdesign)

i downloaded 1 of the free templates from yahoo......i removed any photos or graphics that it had on it and added my own.....added my own wording(which a friend will help me reword ).....eveything in the design program looked fine, all centered and in the correct place......when i published it,the colors, photos and logo was all to the left and too small for the original out-lines which were on the tem[plate......
this is about how technical i can get

Re: web page size

I think it would be better to either show us your code or link to the website. If we started guessing what went wrong, it might make it worse and plus, we can all learn from mistakes if shown what they are.

and what's the problem with that?!

Your site is online so even if nobody's goes to it, google (and other search engine) will still find it and index it.

Anyways ... on to the problem at hand.

Re: web page size

Thanks for the link. It looks ok to me but I'm sure it's not as you intended.
Can you take a screen shot of the site on a smaller screen, so I can see what you "want" it to look like?

Re: web page size

Open your site in a browser. Using your keyboard click ALT + Prt Scr button (do not use the plus key) Alt and Prt Scr at the same time.

That copies the screen image.
Then go to a graphics program and "paste". Save as jpg and upload here.

Re: web page size

On my work PC, it's Ctrl Prt Scr, so if the Alt doesn't work, try Ctrl.
